Whether it's for vision correction, convenience, or style, these options offer distinct advantages to cater to individual needs and preferences. Here's a brief look at some key benefits:

Contact Lenses:

  • Provide a wider field of vision
  • Offer a more natural look, free from frames
  • Remain unaffected by weather, avoiding fogging or water spots

Eyeglasses:

  • Act as a fashion statement and personal style accessory
  • Protect eyes from environmental factors
  • Are easy to use and maintain, ideal for varied lifestyles

As soon as we have finished a thorough eye exam, we will talk about whether contact lenses or eyeglasses are the most effective treatment for your vision impairment. For some people, contacts are the easiest option to achieve their best vision. Beyond ease of use, contact lens capabilities have made many recent improvements. Several of the most frequently requested types of lenses we provide include daily wear, one-day wear, multifocal, and astigmatism contact lenses. Furthermore, current contacts feel better now than ever, with 9 out of every 10 contact lens users feeling zero discomfort.

For patients who may be hesitant to try to put in contacts or who have specific eye conditions, prescription glasses are also an easy choice. As with contact lenses, eyeglasses have undergone remarkable advancements over the years and can offer many benefits.

Eyeglasses are usually more budget-friendly than contacts, less challenging to store when not in use, and not as fragile. In addition, glasses screen the eyes from many external elements and do not aggravate dry or itchy eyes like contacts can. However, most patients choose to use a combination of both types of prescription lenses for different situations.

Staff is very knowledgeable and able to help you find glasses that look good on your shape of face. They are fun to work with and have a large selection of fashionable frames. They know and understand their stock.

I visited Spex to see if they could help fix the frames of a couple pairs of glasses. Even though I didn’t purchase these from Spex, they were very welcoming and willing to help. One of the pairs had an arm that kept falling off. Since I didn’t buy them there, they didn’t have the materials they needed to fix it. But instead of saying no, they went out of their way to solve the problem, using spare materials for their own frames, even though they were not designed the same, and she was able to fix the arm back on. Most of all, I was surprised in the end that they didn’t charge me a single cent! Only thing to note: they are no longer on Stewart. Their new address is not on Google maps but it’s on their website. They’re in the medical dental building.

Spex were a huge help to me! I was on a trip from out of town for Labor Day and forgot my contact lenses. Spex gave me a complementary pair with my exact prescription and the staff were amazingly friendly. Highly recommended!

Excellent customer service. I was in town on business and needed an emergency repair on glasses. They were able to see me for the quick repair without an appointment and were able to quickly solve the problem.

About Us
How should I take care of my contact lenses?
Individuals who wear contacts should clean their lenses every day before use. Seattle, WA area patients should only use sterile solutions specifically designed for contacts and should never reuse an old solution. It is also imperative to keep your hands clean when handling your lenses and touching your eyes.
How often will I need new eyeglass frames?
The frequency with which you’ll need new frames depends on how often your prescription changes and whether you experience any wear and tear on your frames. SPEX patients are encouraged to get regular eye exams, where we will check the fit of the glasses. Depending on your individual situation, you may need to get new frames every 1 – 2 years.
Should I get laser vision correction instead?
There are laser vision correction options that can help improve your vision without contact lenses or eyeglasses, provided you qualify. Our team at SPEX can review your options and vision condition during your next visit. We work with you to select the best possible choice for your unique situation.
